Pharmco, a manufacturer of specialty alcohols and solvents, announced this week it has started operations out of a warehouse in West Haven.
The new facility gives it 60,000 square feet of storage space and expands its distribution capabilities, according to the company. The warehouse is located at 82 West Clark St., close to Interstate 95.
Pharmco makes a variety of products, including acetic acid, acetone, isopropyl alcohol, methanol, sodium chloride and chloroform. Customers are typically in the food, flavor, fragrance and life-science markets. Hospitals, universities and manufacturers are among those with a high demand for its products.
Steve DiBenedetto, the company’s senior vice president of sales and operations, called the move a “strategic investment.”
It will “allow us to create a more responsive supply chain and offer more products and superior delivery to our customers,” DiBenedetto said in an announcement.
Pharmco’s parent company is Greenfield Global, which has locations around the country and world, including in Brookfield, Conn.; California, Kentucky, Canada and Malaysia. It provides products to customers in more than 50 countries.
Donald Williams, director of global supply chain for Greenfield Global, said the company is leasing the warehouse space.
The property, part of an eight-acre parcel with more than 600,000 square feet of building space, is owned by Orion Haven Associates Limited, according to the city assessor’s office. The building has other occupants, including Town Fair Tire.
According to company officials, the West Haven warehouse will allow both Pharmco and Greenfield Global to improve logistics and customer service and provide faster product delivery. It will serve as a complement to the Brookfield location, which is a production facility.
“For us, expanding distribution capabilities is truly about customer service,” DiBenedetto added. “We are always taking steps to keep pace with our customer’s growth, anticipate their needs, and help them reach new heights.”
