Longtime banker Anthony A. Joyce III took over as president and chief executive officer at Chelsea Groton Bank this month.
He was among more than two dozen who were promoted at the Groton-based bank.
It had previously been announced that Joyce would replace B. Michael Rauh Jr. in the role, due to Rauh’s retirement.
According to Joyce, he plans to work to enhance customer service and shepherd Chelsea Groton’s ongoing branch reinvention efforts. The bank has been giving branches a makeover so they are less like the traditional transactional model with a wall of tellers and instead have more spaces conducive to hosting classes and gatherings.
The bank’s Board of Trustees recently formalized Joyce’s promotion, and also gave promotions to an additional 25 employees.
Joyce is a lifelong state resident with more than four decades of banking experience.
Before he joined Chelsea Groton, he worked for many years at Norwich Savings Society and People’s United Bank. Joyce joined Chelsea Groton Bank in 2013 as senior vice president, commercial lending manager. In 2017, he was promoted to executive vice president, senior loan manager. He rose to his most recent role, as executive vice president, chief operating officer, in 2020.
Chelsea Groton had announced Rauh’s retirement and Joyce’s selection as his replacement in September.
