A bank executive at JPMorgan Chase wrote in the notice that the company told employees about the office closure Wednesday. Employees will start receiving formal termination notices Sept. 15 through Oct. 16, according to the notice.

Ohio law requires companies to give employees 60 days notice prior to their termination.

John Johmann, spokesman for JPMorgan Chase, would not say why the office is closing.

JPMorgan Chase employs 20,000 people in Ohio – 80 percent of whom work in Columbus.
