Charter Oak State College’s online health info. management major receives accreditation

Charter Oak State College, Connecticut’s public online college, said its health information management bachelor’s degree program has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM), the governing academic authority in the field of health information management.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics has cited health information management as one of the 20 fastest growing occupations in the U.S. with a projected job growth rate of 23 percent from 2012 to 2022. Graduating from a CAHIIM accredited health information management program allows students to take the Registered Health Information Administration (RHIA) exam, an important credential in the field, the release said.

The program offers healthcare knowledge and skills needed to manage patient data and improve patient care, the release said.
