Charlotte Hungerford buys Torr’ton cardio practice

The Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington has acquired a four-person cardiology group, continuing the trend of consolidation in Connecticut’s health care landscape.

The 109-bed hospital has agreed to purchase Torrington-based Associates in Cardiovascular Medicine, which will be integrated into Charlotte Hungerford’s network of services.

The practice’s physicians, including cardiologists Joseph Abreu, Michael Fowler, Robert Kahan, and Carrie Wolfberg, will all continue to provide services at their current office location, 1215 New Litchfield St.

They will, however, be fully integrated within Charlotte Hungerford Hospital as a hospital department, and the group will be renamed Cardiovascular Medicine Services.
