Rachel King doesn’t necessarily have a “Farmington-centric” view of the world, but she is fortunate enough to have started her career in the town where she grew up and went to high school. Wealth Management Group of N.A., LLC in Farmington has appointed King, 21, as its director of first impressions. “It works out well for me,” King said.
King is a graduate from the University of Rhode Island in Kingston, R.I. While attending URI, she made the dean’s list various semesters and graduated cum laude. She holds a B.S. in business administration with a major in marketing management and a minor in Spanish. Wealth Management Group provides financial advice and wealth management strategies to individuals, business owners, and retirees.
At Wealth Management, King is helping the firm with its “restylement” work. She said that’s defined as helping clients maintain a good quality of life through retirement. “I like the creative side of my work,” King said.
As director of first impressions, King is also responsible for client services and projects, as well as writing press releases about the company’s work and new hires. She is also exploring using social networking sites like Facebook and Linkedin to promote the financial services firm.
Swimming could be described as King’s passion in life. She is a former lifeguard who is a part-time coach for a swim team at the Plainville YMCA. It’s a diverse group of swimmers ranging in age from eight and under all the way through high school that competes against other YMCA teams.
King was captain of her Farmington High School girls swim team, where she swam the butterfly stroke, and has been swimming competitively since the age of 4. While in high school she was all conference and all-academic, as well as competing in state tournaments on her school’s relay team.
Outside the pool, King likes giving back to the community. While in college, she was active in Habitat for Humanity and helped build homes in Kington, R.I. “I always do the Susan B. Komen Race for the Cure. I’ve been a volunteer for the past five years,” she said. “No one in my family has cancer. I like going to the events and helping out as much as I can.”
