Foxwoods has cleared another hurdle towards building a resort casino in the Central Massachusetts town of Milford, it announced.
Milford’s board of selectmen Monday night signed a host agreement with Crossroads LLC — the entity representing the casino — that lays out $31 million a year in payments to the town if Foxwoods wins a one of three available casino licenses from the state.
Foxwoods would also give the town an up-front payment of $32 million.
The deal is the largest one yet negotiated in Massachusetts. Foxwoods still needs to win a voter referendum in the town to move ahead.
In West Springfield, Mass., voters are going to the polls today to decide whether or not to approve the Hard Rock Casino $800 million proposal for their community.
