Central CT to get Verizon’s 4G in June

Verizon Wireless says it will throw the switch on its faster 4G telecom voice-data grid in Hartford and central Connecticut on June 16.

The 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network is coming to Hartford and two dozen surrounding communities in Hartford, Middlesex and Tolland counties. The new network will be 10 times faster than its current 3G grid, the company says.

Verizon last week launched 4G LTE service in Fairfield and New Haven Counties, as well as inside Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks.

The 4G upgrades are part of Verizon’s nationwide conversion due to be fully implemented by the end of 2013.
