The Central Connecticut Chambers of Commerce said it has hired James Albert, an Air Force veteran and former chief information officer at several area hospitals, as its new CEO.
Albert, a Bristol resident, retired from the Air Force in 1998 holding the title of special assistant to the Office of the Secretary of Defense and White House for technology research, development and engineering.
Since retiring, he has worked as a CIO for Bristol Hospital, Masonicare in Wallingford and Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington. He has also advised various hospitals on implementing electronic medical records. Albert ran unsuccessfully for Bristol City Council this year.
Albert starts work Jan. 6. He replaces Michael Nicastro, who took a job with Avon’s COCC in September.
The regional chamber is made up of chambers representing 1,400 businesses in Bristol, Bloomfield, Burlington, Farmington, Plymouth/Terryville and Wolcott.
