Census: Child poverty up in most Connecticut big cities

A report from the U.S. Census Bureau shows that child poverty in most of Connecticut’s big cities has risen in the last six years. Bridgeport, Hartford, Stamford and Waterbury all saw increases in child poverty rates, but the figures released Monday showed that New Haven was the only Connecticut city that saw a decrease. Waterbury now ranks among the nation’s top 50 cities with the greatest percentage of children living in poverty. Click here to read more.
