The Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology has appointed a former Electric Boat employee as its new executive director.
Andrew Bond will serve as a senior member of CCAT’s executive leadership team in the newly created executive director role. He will lead the development and execution of strategic initiatives and enhance organizational infrastructure, CCAT said.
The agency provides advice and training on technological upgrades for manufacturing companies in Connecticut and around the U.S.
Bond was most recently vice president of planning at General Dynamics Electric Boat, where he was responsible for overseeing construction readiness of the Columbia and Virginia class submarine programs.
“Andrew’s deep leadership experience and approach make him an ideal addition for this next chapter of CCAT’s growth and expansion on CCAT’s journey,” said Ron Angelo, the organization’s president and CEO.
Bond currently serves on the board of directors of ReadyCT, a nonprofit that works on educational equity in the state. He has previously served on the Governor’s Workforce Council and the Eastern Connecticut Advanced Manufacturing Association Regional Sector Partnership.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in naval architecture and marine engineering from Webb Institute and a master’s degree in system design and management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
