CCAT preps third manufacturing career push

East Hartford’s Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology said it will host manufacturing events for students and teachers next month in Southington and Bridgeport.

The “manufacturing mania” events — part of a state-backed program called “Connecticut. Dream It. Do It” — are meant to spur middle school students’ interest in manufacturing careers.

The program, administered by CCAT, is in its third year. More than 900 students have participated since 2012, CCAT said.

The invite-only events will be held at the Aqua Turf Club in Southington on Oct. 3 and at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport on Oct. 16 and 17.
