Taiwan global container shipper Evergreen Line has tripled its initial order of deep-freeze containers from Farmington-based Carrier.
Carrier Transicold, located in Syracuse, N.Y., originally got Evergreen’s order for 2,000 of the 40-foot PrimeLine refrigerated containers but the order subsequently was increased to 6,000 units, the companies said Tuesday.
Financial terms weren’t disclosed.
Evergreen Line is one of the world’s leading transoceanic shippers of commercial goods. Most of Evergreen’s new containers are being used for fleet expansion, with some used to replace aging units.
With the order, one in five of Evergreen’s refrigeration units is a PrimeLine container, Carrier said.
Carrier is a unit of Hartford-based United Technologies Corp.
