Farmington heating and cooling company Carrier Corp. held its first training event for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design in Brazil is advance of soccer’s World Cup and the Olympics coming to the country.
The LEED workshop attracted more than 40 customers and industry professionals to learn about the rating system, key sustainability terms and concepts, green building practices and cost of green buildings.
Carrier is a founding member of the U.S. Green Building Council, which certifies buildings under the LEED system. Carrier is a founding member of other countries green building councils as well: Argentina, China, India, Singapore and France.
Brazil is the new focus of this training as the country builds and renovates stadiums, airports and other infrastructure in anticipation of large crowds for the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympics.
