The German subsidiary of Farmington heating and cooling manufacturer Carrier Corp. is nearing the milestone of producing its one millionth container refrigeration system for intermodal transportation.
Carrier Transicold’s original front-wall container refrigeration system was first produce in 1968 and became the industry standard. Carrier took 25 years to reach the 100,000 unit plateau, and is poised to pass the 1 million mark this year, 20 years later.
Carrier also is celebrating the 45th anniversary of the invention of this system and its first production.
Carrier is a subsidiary of Hartford conglomerate United Technologies Corp.
