Farmington-based Carrier Corp. is shifting its consumer air-conditioning portion of its Japanese partnership with Toshiba to limit its market exposure in that country.
Carrier said it agreed to transfer its Toshiba-branded home air-conditioning business from Toshiba Carrier Corp. to Toshiba Home Appliances Corp. Terms of the deal were not disclosed Wednesday.
Toshiba Carrier will focus on marketing high-efficiency commercial air conditioners, said Carrier President Geraud Darnis.
Carrier is a unit of United Technologies Corp. in Hartford.
Toshiba Home Appliances is owned by Toshiba Consumer Electronics Holdings Corp.
