Background: Capital Workforce Partners is a regional work force investment board — one of five in the state and about 600 in the country. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, serving 37 municipalities in north central Connecticut. Capital Workforce Partners is all about “work force development.” We identify jobs and support the development of sustainable career pathways for adult workers, primarily through the region’s CTWorks One Stop Career Centers, the Jobs Funnel for construction related trades, and LIFE (Low Income Families Employment) Program. We also promote and invest in youth and future work force solutions as indicated in our Youth Employment and Learning and Career Connections programs. And we assist employers in targeted industries, helping them grow and remain competitive through a talented business services team. We are continuously addressing work force development with partnerships, programs, and initiatives to maintain and improve the economic prosperity in the Greater Hartford’s region and beyond.
Capital Workforce Partners serves a total population of more than 950,000, and a labor force of more than 486,000, making it the largest work force investment area in Connecticut.
Major Fundraiser: Our organization is primarily funded through state and federal grants. Supplemental private and other funding is needed to ensure continuity and address increasing needs of job seekers and future work force development services.
Volunteer Needs: Capital Workforce Partners needs individuals to advocate for youth employment, adult skill development, dislocated worker and prisoner reentry services.
