New Haven-based Precipio Inc., a cancer diagnostics company, announced this month it has launched new one-step technology that enables same-day test results.
Keith Meadors, senior vice president of Precipio’s products division, said in an announcement, “I’m excited to continue to work with our R&D to provide products that enable our customers to deliver the best care to cancer patients.”
Customers who are using the company’s HemeScreen, a proprietary mutation-screening technology, in their laboratories can now choose to upgrade to a new one-step assay.
The earlier, original product requires a two-step process that includes a positive confirmation step. The new version no longer requires this initial step.
Therefore, the latest product can give customers both positive and negative results within about three hours, according to a company announcement.
The simplified process shortens turnaround time for delivering results to clinicians and also reduces by about 25% the time required for lab technicians to complete the assay. This will help save time and money, according to Precipio.
The company, which aims to improve accuracy in cancer diagnostics, anticipates that most of its customers will upgrade to the newer version of its product.
