Solar products maker Canadian Solar Inc. said today it obtained development rights for a 500 megawatt solar power plant project in China.
Canadian Solar will design, install, operate and maintain the system, which will be located in Baotou, Inner Mongolia.
The project is subject to a feasibility study and government approvals and is divided into three phases. The first phase, which calls for the installation of a 100 megawatt photovoltaic system, is expected to run from September 2009 to December 2011.
For the second and third stages, each of which call for the installation of 200 megawatt photovoltaic systems, there are no binding commitments until a feasibility study is completed and approvals are obtained. (AP)
