Veteran Connecticut nonprofit executive Michael L. Campbell is taking over as executive director of the SS&C SummerWind Performing Arts Center in Windsor, officials say.
Campbell, a formerly with the Girl Scouts of Connecticut, is in charge of building and maintaining
Summerwind’s funding sources and ensuring quality events that will continue to advance the mission of the organization, authorities said Thursday.Â
“Michael brings a wealth of arts and fundraising experience to SS&C SummerWind,” said Douglas Kerr, board president. “His commitment to the arts, excellence and years of experience managing outstanding arts organizations positions him to capture the potential of this organization. He already has exciting ideas about new community outreach efforts and year-round activities.”
A Canton resident, Campbell also previously was the national development director for United States Naval Sea Cadets. He also founded and directed the international exchange program for the Sea Cadets.
Prior to that, he was executive director for Hartford Children’s Theatre Inc. He spent 17 years with the Producing Guild Inc., Connecticut’s nonequity theatre company in various leadership positions.
Campbell serves on the artistic advisory committee for Hartford Children’s Theatre, the National Board of Directors for the Navy League of the United States, and the Connecticut Commission on Culture & Tourism Peer Advisor Network.
