Milestone Aviation Group said it has ordered an additional eight Sikorsky S-92 helicopters.
The Anaheim, Calif. company has now ordered 37 of the aircraft, valued at over $1.2 billion. Milestone, which leases helicopters to offshore oil and gas operators around the world, already has 73 Sikorsky helicopters in its fleet. Sikorsky is a subsidiary of Hartford’s United Technologies Corp.
Orders will be delivered over the next five years.
Last week, Sikorsky announced it will lay off 600 workers, including many in Connecticut, as a result of federal government spending cuts for its Black Hawk helicopters.
