Calif. addiction center opens second CT clinic

Los Angeles-based BioCorRx Inc. said it will open a West Hartford clinic next week.

The 970 Farmington Ave. clinic is the second Connecticut location for the company, which also has one in Norwalk.

BioCorRx, which trades on the OTCQB — which is for venture-stage companies — will have 12 clinics across the country.

The company’s Connecticut clinics operate under a distribution deal with JPL LLC, which owns the right to BioCorRx’s Start Fresh Program in the state.

The program includes an implant that delivers an opioid antagonist called Naltrexone, combined with one-on-one coaching with a counselor.

BioCorRx said it’s targeting Connecticut because the state has a relatively high level of substance abuse.

Citing Centers for Disease Control data, the company said 900 Connecticut residents die annually from alcohol use.
