Bysiewicz: Malloy wins governor’s race

Connecticut’s top election official says it appears Democrat Dan Malloy has won the governor’s race, and that the margin of victory will not trigger a recount, The Associated Press reports.

Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz says unofficial election results show Malloy defeated Republican Tom Foley by 3,103 votes.

She says a dispute over a ballot shortage in Bridgeport would not affect the outcome. She noted the margin was larger than the 500 people who voted in Bridgeport after a judge ordered some of the city’s polls to remain open longer after poll workers ran out of ballots.

Foley was scheduled to address reporters on Tuesday afternoon.
