BYK USA Inc. will receive $6 million from Connecticut in the form of a low-interest loan to help with its $53 million expansion in Wallingford, Gov. Dannel Malloy’s office announced.
BYK, which announced the 55,000-square-foot expansion last year, has pledged to add 37 new jobs to its existing 97 in Wallingford in exchange for the 10-year loan, which comes with a 2 percent interest rate.
The company develops and makes additives used in paints, inks and the plastics. The additives increase scratch-resistance or surface gloss.
BYK has facilities in Europe, South America, Asia and the Middle East.
The state’s bond commission is expected to vote on the loan Friday.
