New Britain-based transportation company DATTCO recently purchased an industrial property in East Hartford for $2.1 million.
In a deed recorded April 16, KAD East Hartford Realty LLC acquired a 15,256-square-foot industrial building on 2.1 acres at 283 Burnham St. from the Susan M. Laudano Family Trust. The metal-sided building with 15-drive-in doors dates to 1979.
The buying LLC is led by DATTCO President Donald A. DeVivo. His family-operated company provides school busing and transportation services across much of the Northeast.
DATTCO also operates a diverse array of affiliated businesses, including Thermo King dealerships, a tool distributor and wholesaler and collision centers.
Paul Mayer, vice president of marketing and community relations for DATTCO, said the company will be in a better position to announce a specific future use of the property after ongoing renovations are completed.
"It's a great property and it will no doubt support our long-term growth and operations in the region," Mayer said.
The acquisition follows DATTCO’s March 26 announcement that it had purchased Watertown-based Land/Jet and its fleet of 10 buses, a move that expands the company’s presence in western Connecticut and into New York. DATTCO said it plans to replace half of Land/Jet’s buses with newer models from its own fleet while offering to retain all Land/Jet staff.
KAD East Hartford Realty LLC obtained a $1.68 million loan from Massachusetts-based Middlesex Savings Bank, secured by a mortgage on the Burnham Drive property that was also recorded April 16.
