Regional bus carrier Peter Pan Bus Lines has halted its express service in New Haven due to declining ridership, company officials announced this week.
Peter Pan will continue to operate seven-times-daily commuter buses on behalf of CT Transit on weekdays but express buses between New York and Hartford will no longer stop in the Elm City.Â
Springfield, Mass.-based Peter Pan began New Haven express service in 1986, but competition from Greyhound and Metro-North has eroded ridership. Metro-North’s new Hartford Line, which began service in June, also hurt sales, Peter Pan CEO Peter Picknelly told the New Haven Independent.
Greyhound Lines currently offers three to six buses to New York per day from New Haven’s Union Station.
