“As a 100 percent employee-owned firm, our people are rewarded for performance and directly share in company profitability,” explains Brett Williams, vice president and general manager of Burns & McDonnell’s Connecticut office. “We provide tuition reimbursement, smoking cessation program reimbursement, on-site fitness training, face-to-face lifestyle coaching, and stress relief programs.”
“We also take many opportunities to celebrate. This year, we’re hosting a gala to celebrate the 25th anniversary of our ESOP and last year, we had our 17th annual Chili Bowl, a luncheon commemorating becoming employee-owned.”
In 2010, employees donated 11,000 meals and 200+ hours at food banks nationwide through its work with Feeding America and the Global Orphan Project. The company also raised funds at its annual Founders Day birthday lunch and donated $75,000 to rebuild two Haitian orphanages.
