Bristol’s Clarion Hotel has hired an Albany, N.Y., lodging operator to manage the 120-room hotel located in the shadow of ESPN headquarters and Lake Compounce.
Prestige Hospitality Group won the five-year contract for unspecified financial terms to operate and manage the Clarion, including overseeing its marketing and capital improvements, Prestige CEO James Frenis said Thursday.
The Clarion is at 42 Century Drive. Amenities include an indoor swimming pool, fitness center and sauna, meeting rooms and banquet facilities, and Jillian’s restaurant and lounge.
It employs 42 full- and part-time workers. The out-of-town owner is Bristol Hospitality LLC.
Frenis said the first steps in coming months will be to streamline the Clarion’s operations and upgrade the hotel “to position it for future growth.”
That includes work currently underway or recently completed to renew the property’s mechanical systems and plumbing, install indoor sprinklers, and a new roof on the hotel built in the mid-1980s.
Prestige owns or manages 13 inns and hotels with more than 940 rooms in New York and Connecticut, including the 76-unit Comfort Suites in Danbury and the 32-room Litchfield Inn, Frenis said. It has five more New York properties with more than 500 rooms under development.
