Metallics Inc., a manufacturer of a range of fasteners and related parts, has announced plans to close its facility in Bristol next year and eliminate 33 jobs.
The closing and layoffs will occur just four years after Metallics was acquired by a North Carolina-based electrical supplier.
That company, NSI Industries LLC, filed a notice with city and state officials on Friday under the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act stating that the Bristol facility at 229 Cross St. will permanently close.
“The company’s operations at the Metallics Inc. facility are expected to cease on Sept. 30, 2026,” the notice states. “The expected date of the first employee separation is May 1, 2026, and the expected date of the final employee separation is Sept. 30, 2026.”
The notice states the closing will be permanent “and reflects the closure of all of Metallics Inc. operations at this location.”
The 33 jobs being eliminated include eight production workers, three team leads, two packers, two materials handlers and two shipping associates. The employees are not represented by a union.
Huntersville, North Carolina-based NSI Industries acquired Metallics Inc. in March 2022. NSI Real Estate owns the 74,255-square-foot, one-story building and the 3.14 acres on which it sits at 229 Cross St., which it also acquired in March 2022 for $2.4 million.
