Bristol manufacturer hit with $109K fine

Workplace safety regulators have proposed more than $109,000 in fines for a Bristol wire manufacturer for electrical and chemical safety violations, some of which were not corrected from 2009, the U.S. Department of Labor announced.

According to the DOL’s OSHA division, Radcliffe Wire Inc. had improperly wired equipment and also failed to prohibit an electrician from working on live equipment.

Additionally, the company failed to train maintenance personnel how to use protective equipment and fire extinguishers; failed to properly label hazardous chemical containers; and failed to provide eye protection for workers using corrosive chemicals, among other violations, OSHA said.
