Bristol courier service location to close, laying off 61 workers

The Bristol location of a regional courier company is closing and laying off 61 employees, according to a notice filed this week with the state Department of Labor.

ABC Express Delivery, Inc., at 71 Horizon Drive said that the Bristol location would close as of March 31, permanently ending the jobs of 58 delivery drivers, a station manager and a dispatcher. 

None of the workers were unionized, according to the notice. 

ABC Express Delivery Service, based in Agawam, Mass., provides courier and other delivery services across New England, according to its website.
