Bridgeport, Stratford receive $50K EPA grants

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency awarded $50,000 in grants to Bridgeport and Stratford to improve the health of the communities.

Bridgeport Neighborhood Trust received $25,000 to address environmentally-related illnesses such as lead contamination in young children and inhalant allergens triggering asthma.

Town of Stratford received $25,000 to implement a marketing program on the problems associated with third-hand smoke and residual nicotine exposure.

The Connecticut awards were part of 13 grants totaling $372,000 to New England communities addressing environmental and public health issues.
