Clean Diesel Technologies Inc. in Bridgeport got a $960,971 grant from a Houston research consortium develop a device to further reduce harmful diesel exhaust emissions.
The grant from the Houston Advanced Research Center (HARC) calls for Clean Diesel to use its proprietary technology to create and test the device that would cut emissions laced with nitrogen oxide particulates. The device would be fitted onto on- and off-road motors, such as diesel generators.
Stiffer air standards in the U.S. and Europe don’t allow as much of that matter to flow from diesel exhaust.
Clean Diesel President Michael Asmussen said the grant fits with its revised business model of using its technology to create new products.
It also opens the door to markets in California and Texas, he said.
