A Bridgeport developer has proposed building a 145-unit, seven-story apartment building on two adjoining parcels in Stratford, according to plans filed with the town.
Mark Slade, of Bridgeport, doing business as M-Slade Enterprises LLC, plans to construct the building on one 1.73-acre parcel that would be created by joining a 0.87-acre parcel at 100 Oronoque Lane and a 0.86-acre parcel at 150 Oronoque Lane. Slade is under contract to buy both properties from Mark Genest, a developer from West Haven.
Slade proposes a zone change and text amendment to allow the proposed development under the state’s 8-30g affordable housing statute, which would designate 45 units as affordable housing.
The proposal includes demolishing a 9,423-square-foot house at 100 Oronoque Lane and a 6,096-square-foot house at 150 Oronoque Lane to make way for the proposed apartment building. Both houses were built in 1984, according to property records.
Genest, doing business as Affordability LLC, had proposed building two six-story apartment buildings on the joined properties under 8-30g, but he withdrew those plans after the town’s Zoning Commission denied them earlier this year, according to published reports. The development would have resulted in 126 apartments.
The town's Planning Commission is scheduled to discuss Slade's proposal on Tuesday.
