A Bridgeport-based company that makes helicopter components for Sikorsky and other major aerospace manufacturers has won a multimillion-dollar contract from the Department of Defense (DOD).
Rotair Aerospace Corp. has been awarded a three-year contract worth up to $8.6 million from the DOD’s Defense Logistics Agency to produce flutter dampeners, which are used to suppress vibrations in airplane control surfaces. The contract was won in a competitive bidding process that received three responses, the Department of Defense said.
According to its website, Rotair Aerospace Corp. specializes in manufacturing components for various rotary wing aircraft, including mechanical flight controls and complete landing gear systems.
It’s a significant supplier for the UH-60 Black Hawk, which is manufactured by Stratford-based Sikorsky.
Sikorsky has won contracts in recent months worth up to $2 billion to provide UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters to foreign governments, including in Greece, Austria, Brazil, Sweden and Thailand.
