Branford’s CAS Med posts 1Q loss

CAS Medical Inc. posted a first-quarter loss on flat sales for the Branford medical-device maker.

CAS Medical said Wednesday it lost $1.2 million, or 9 cents a share, in the three months ended March 31. It earned $200,000, or 2 cents a share, the same quarter last year.

First-quarter revenues were $5.6 million vs. $5.1 million a year ago.

CEO Thomas Patton said its Fore-Sight brand patented blood-oxygen measurement device to monitor oxygen levels throughout the bodies of critically ill babies and youths is making meaningful penetration into markets.
