The Town of Branford is seeking a developer for two town-owned properties on prominent downtown sites.
One is the former U.S. Post Office at 1111 Main St., and the other is a former schoolhouse and senior center at 11 Cherry Hill Road, close to the train station.
The town has issued a request for proposals saying it would like to see new uses that emphasize pedestrian connectivity to neighborhoods, downtown and transit; support local business growth and job creation; or advance attainable housing.
The 1920s post office is a state registered historic building, and the site is zoned for business use. The building also has a 30-space parking lot.
The RFP identifies the Cherry Hill Road site, which is zoned for residential use, as suitable for transit-oriented development.
Submissions are due Sept. 15, and the town will hold information sessions and site tours in July for prospective applicants.
