Bradley names new marketing director

Bradley International Airport has appointed a new transportation director of marketing and route development, selecting a 20-year veteran of aviation management specializing in domestic and international operations.

Luis Perez most recently oversaw the construction of a new green field international airport in Ecuador, sponsored by the U.S. and Canadian governments. Before that, Perez worked with the Vancouver Airport Services and the Houston Airport System, holding various positions such as airport director and general manager of infrastructure.

Bradley, based in Windsor Locks, is the second largest airport in New England and contributes $4 billion in economic activity to Connecticut and the surrounding area.

“Virtually my entire career has been devoted to improving services, routes and experiences for air travelers,” Perez said in a statement. “I am thankful for this opportunity and I am looking forward to being part of the team that continues to raise the bar for its customers at Bradley.”

Perez’s appointment comes at a time when state officials are trying to push further development in and around Bradley Airport. In the recent legislative session lawmakers passed a bill that establishes tax credits for businesses that move to or expand in the four towns surrounding the airport including Suffield, Windsor Locks, Windsor and East Granby.

Economic development officials have been pushing for the hiring of a full-time marketing director at the airport since Kiran Jain, who formerly held the position and was credited with attracting the now defunct Amsterdam flight, left late last year.
