Only a few Wednesday morning flights at Bradley International Airport are cancelled as the fourth nor’easter in three weeks hits Connecticut.
As of 11 a.m., four morning arriving flights and six afternoon flights were cancelled from the state’s biggest airport. Ten morning and afternoon departing flights were also cancelled Wednesday.
Gov. Dannel P. Malloy announced he will partially activate the state’s Emergency Operations Center beginning at 2 p.m. Wednesday to monitor storm conditions across the state.
The National Weather Service reported that blizzard conditions are possible as heavy snow and winds up to 45 mph are expected in the afternoon and evening hours. Up to a foot of snow could also blanket portions of Connecticut.
Coastal flooding is also possible along the coast from Virginia to Massachusetts through Thursday. The storm will put a strain on vulnerable areas along the coastline, which saw storm surge from other recent nor’easters.
More than 70 million people are under a winter storm watch, warning or advisory from the southern Appalachians to Boston.
Real-time flight status updates are available on Bradley’s website, www.flybdl.org. Twitter users can also receive automated updates by tweeting their flight numbers @BDLFlightInfo.
