Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks will close its secondary runway for its airfield lighting project.
While the secondary runway is closed from May 31 to June 20, all regular commercial flights will use the airport’s main runway. Airport operations will not be affected, said Bradley spokesman John Wallace.
The lighting upgrade to the secondary runway is part of a federally funded project to change the entire electrical system of the airport. The project started in 2010 and will finish near the end of 2011.
At no point during the electrical upgrade will the airport have to close the main runway, Wallace said.
