Bradley Airport expects Thanksgiving travel to approach pre-pandemic levels

Bradley International Airport is expecting passenger traffic to approach pre-pandemic levels this Thanksgiving, as people return to more normal travel patterns amid a (hopefully) waning pandemic.

The quasi-public Connecticut Airport Authority, which oversees Bradley, said it’s predicting about 85,000 travelers between the Tuesday before Thanksgiving and the Sunday after, with the busiest travel days being Tuesday and Wednesday.

“While passenger estimates are harder to predict than in years past, with individuals now booking flights closer to their date of travel, the airport anticipates passenger volumes to be nearing pre-pandemic levels,” CAA said in a statement.

During the pandemic’s darkest days, Bradley Airport passenger traffic was down 90% compared to pre-pandemic levels. But traffic has improved significantly since this past March.

CAA Executive Director Dillon last month told HBJ he expects passenger traffic to return to pre-pandemic levels by next spring.

With more activity at the airport expected than during most of the pandemic, CAA is advising passengers to arrive to Bradley early, plan ahead for parking, bring face masks — which are required on all flights — and confirm flights before going to the airport.
