Boys & Girls Club of New Britain names native, CCSU grad Jones exec. director

The Boys & Girls Club of New Britain has appointed a local educator, club member and lifelong city resident as its new executive director.

The youth development organization, based on Washington Street, recently announced that James Jones became the local chapter’s executive director on July 20. Jones is succeeding Todd Czuprinski, who held the position since the early 1990s and is slated to continue serving as director of operations and programs.

Jones, a New Britain High School and Central Connecticut State University graduate, most recently served as the dean of students at Slade Middle School in New Britain assisting the principal and assistant principal in counseling students, developing positive behavior policies and reinforcing educational goals, the nonprofit said in a release. He will temporarily transition out of that role while he begins to lead the Boys & Girls Club.

During his nearly 24-year professional career, Jones was also a longtime member of the Consolidated School District of New Britain and the New Britain Board of Education.
