Boston-based EnerNOC Inc., which helps utilities and electric grid operators regulate supply and demand, on Wednesday said it acquired Cogent Energy Inc. to expand its customer base.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Cogent Energy, based in Concord, Calif., provides technology that monitors building operations at an extremely detailed level to help reveal opportunities for greater energy efficiency.
“The market for monitoring-based commissioning represents a huge growth opportunity for EnerNOC,” said Tom Healy, CEO of EnerNOC.
The acquisition expands EnerNOC’s market share by enabling EnerNOC to service smaller facilities with less sophisticated control systems. (AP)
