Boston law firm hires 7 Greenwich-based attorneys, opens second CT office

Boston-based regional law firm Verrill announced Tuesday it has hired seven attorneys and opened a second Connecticut office as part of a significant expansion in Fairfield County.

The new hires include five partners and two associates, all formerly with Greenwich-based Whitman Breed Abbott & Morgan LLC.

Verrill is opening its new office at 500 West Putnam Ave., in Greenwich, adding to its existing Westport location.

Partners Andrew W. Nelson and Mark McEnroe joined Verrill’s Business Law Group, along with associates Eleni Choephel and Justin D. Wade. The group represents clients in corporate matters including private equity, venture capital and business transactions.

Attorneys Harry E. Peden III and Kevin A. Walsh became partners in the private clients and fiduciary services group, handling business law, tax planning and estate matters.

James C. Riley joined as a partner in the trial group, focusing on contract disputes, construction cases and employment law.

The expansion comes as Verrill marks 15 years of operating in Connecticut and 10 years since combining with Connecticut-based Levett Rockwood.

Verrill has roughly 150 attorneys across its offices, which also include locations in Portland, Bangor and Augusta, Maine; New York City; Washington, D.C. and Naples, Florida.
