Another national firm, this time an architecture and design company, has landed in Hartford with a new office downtown.
Boston-based Shepley Bulfinch, which also operates in Houston and Phoenix, on Tuesday announced the launch of its fourth office at 100 Allyn St., which is based at the corner of Allyn and Ann streets, adjacent to the XL Center.
Renovations are ongoing at the 4,000-square-foot office space, as the firm plans to begin work there next week with seven employees, according to a company spokeswoman. Several additional staff will be added in the near future, she said.Â
The company said the new Hartford location allows it to expand its architecture, planning and interior design serves for institutions in education, health care and urban development throughout Connecticut and western Massachusetts.
Shepley CEO Carole Wedge said the company has operated in those regions for more than 45 years for numerous academic and healthcare clients.
Shepley is leasing the Allyn Street space from Northland Investment Corp., which is a major landlord in downtown Hartford. Built in 1911 and renovated in 1989, the four-story building spans over 30,647 square feet, according to Northland.
