Kidswear maker Fishman & Tobin has signed on to upgrade the product lifecycle management software it gets from South Windsor’s Gerber Technology Inc. to track its expanding global production and sales of chidrens’ fashions.
F&T designs and makes under license such childwear brands as Dockers, Natural Issue, Penguin Sport, Munsingwear and Perry Ellis.
Gerber said Monday F&T will upgrade and expand its use of Gerber’s existing Web-based product management software to Gerber’s Yunique product lifecycle management software used to track merchandise from design to production, to ultimately where and when it lands on retail shelves.
Gerber did not specify financial terms of the upgrade.
F&T information chief Lewis Summers said in a statement that its global expansion in recent years and the addition of new brands prompted its search for an easier, more effective way to track everything about its products beyond the dollars and cents of production and distribution to such elements as the choice of color, artwork and materials.
F&T said it also relied on customer input in its decision to employ YuniquePLM. When fully in use, Â Gerber’s PLM tools will link together F&T’s U.S. headquarters in Conshohocken, Pa., its New York design and merchandising center and its devevelopment and manufacturing operatiosn in Panyu, China and U.S. sales locations.
Gerber Technology bought Yunique Solutions Inc. in New York in December 2009 to solidify its lead in the global retail-fashion market for product lifecycle management software.
Parent Gerber Scientific also makes automated machinery used to precisely cut clothing patterns and other apparel-making processes.
