Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. promoted corporate controller Beth Bombara to president of the insurer’s life runoff unit.
Bombara, who also was a senior vice president and corporate controller, reports directly to Chairman, President and CEO Liam E. McGee. She also joins the company’s executive leadership team.
Bombara succeeds David Bedard, who is leaving to pursue other opportunities, the insurer said.
Bombara previously oversaw corporate accounting and policy and wealth management finance, and led the company’s finance transformation program.
She joined The Hartford in April 2004 from Deloitte & Touche LLP’s audit practice and was a partner at Arthur Andersen LLP.
A certified public accountant, Bombara earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Bryant University.
Meantime, Amanda E. Abdella, a former portfolio manager at The Hartford, has been hired as a senior portfolio manager at a Bank of New York Mellon Corp. unit that oversees $19.3 billion for insurance clients.
