Bank of America has informed Connecticut officials it will be laying off more than 100 workers in Hartford and East Hartford, The Associated Press reports.
Spokeswoman Nicole Nastacie said Wednesday that Bank of America is eliminating 56 positions at its Hartford Cash Vault site, transferring the work to Dedham, Mass., and Schenectady, NY.
The bank is also exiting its East Hartford Lockbox site, affecting about 50 workers. The work will be relocated to Boston’s neighborhood of Dorchester. The reorganization move was originally announced in 2009.
The bank notified the state Department of Labor that it will lay off the workers in Hartford on Sept. 23. Employees in East Hartford will lose their jobs from Aug. 11 to Dec. 1.
Bank of America says it will remain a major employer in Connecticut, with about 4,000 workers.
