Boeing taps Kaman for 767 wing kits

Bloomfield aeroparts maker Kaman Corp. has won a multi-year contract from Boeing Co. to continue supplying the jetmaker with wing kits and assemblies for the Air Force’s version of the Boeing 767 jetliner.

Kaman’s Aerosystems division delivered to Boeing last March its first fixed trailing edge kits for the Boeing KC-46A aerial tanker program. The Air Force uses its tankers as in-flight “refueling stations’’ for airborne fighters, bombers and transport planes.

Financial terms weren’t disclosed.

Trailing edges on aircraft wings provide lift, stability and maneuverability during takeoffs, landings and flight.

To date Kaman has provided more than 1,000 fixed trailing edge kits and assemblies for the 767 program since 1986, said Kaman Aerospace Group President Greg Steiner.
