Manchester-based Bob’s Discount Furniture, which sells home furnishings through a chain of discount stores, is pressing ahead with an aggressive expansion strategy, reaffirming plans to open about 20 new locations this year while advancing development of a new distribution center.
The retailer, which reported second-quarter earnings Thursday, opened four new stores during the quarter, bringing its total to 218 locations across 27 states. The company said capital spending is being driven by its store expansion program and early development of a distribution center in Georgia.
It reported second-quarter revenue of $619.6 million, up 8.8% from a year earlier, while net income rose to $57.8 million from $35.2 million.
Bob’s, which went public earlier this year, also received approval for $45.1 million in tariff refunds under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act. The company recognized $37.9 million of those refunds in cost of sales during the quarter and received the remaining $41.9 million after the quarter ended.
President and CEO Bill Barton said consumers continue to prioritize value, helping the company gain market share despite a challenging retail environment. Bob’s reaffirmed its full-year outlook, including plans to open approximately 20 new stores in 2026.
